The Science of Subluxation

The Science of Subluxation 239x300What Does Science Tell Us About Vertebral Subluxation? Subluxations are a disturbance of your nervous system that affects the function of your body. They can be either structural or neurological in nature. Structural subluxations will produce a misalignment of spinal bones or vertebrae. When a spinal bone misaligns, the distortion can narrow the nerve openings between the spinal bones and “pinch” or compress the nerve. When there are gross movements of multiple spinal bones it can cause twisting and or torque of the spinal cord, nerves or even the delicate meninges that protect the spinal cord. This results in stress to the nervous system that damages input and output from the brain. We call this a neurological subluxation. In the 1970’s scientists at the University of Colorado demonstrated clearly the structural subluxations damage nerves. They found that pressure (equal to the weight of a dime on the tip of your finger) is all the...

10 Tips to Overcome Negative Thoughts: Positive Thinking Made Easy

Positive ThinkingBy Michelle Uy This post was originally published on www.tinybuddha.com Michelle Uy is a Certified Yoga Teacher and Owner of LoveActionYoga. For more tips to live happier and healthier, check out That’s Fit.ca, Michelle Uy's Website. “See the positive side, the potential, and make an effort.” ~Dalai Lama Even though I’m a yoga teacher, I still find it’s easy to fall prey to negative thinking. Having negative thoughts out like a movie can only bring you pain, something that I’ve experienced many times throughout my life. Negative thoughts drain you of energy and keep you from being in the present moment. The more you give in to your negative thoughts, the stronger they become. I like the imagery of a small ball rolling along...

Sugars and the Glycemic Index

Sugar Facts: Sugar depresses the immune system. Americans consume an average of 150 bags of sugar in a year. Lots of sugar triggers insulin production. Guess who else loves insulin? Cancer cells. Sugar causes cancer cells to divide so the number of cancer cells grows. Sugar contributes to obesity because the excess in the body is turned to triglycerides which the fat cells ingest. Fat cells have a huge appetite and will consume triglycerides until they are bursting at the seams. The bigger your fat cells, the bigger you become.         Types of Sugar: Glucose – Glucose is the simple sugar made by the body through digestion of carbohydrates. It is the body’s chief source of energy. Sometimes glucose is called dextrose. Sucrose – Sucrose is what we commonly refer to as table sugar. It is made from highly processed sugar cane or sugar beets. The composition of sucrose is a combination of glucose...

Breast Cancer, BCRA-1 & Angelina

BreastCA 225x300Is Breast Cancer On The Rise Because Of Our Genes? The rate of breast cancer in women is exploding and has become a global phenomenon. Contrary to conventional wisdom breast cancer is actually not genetic but rather a MAN-MADE disease! You see, as a result of the new science of epigenetics we now know that how our genes are expressed in our body is determined by our lifestyle. Even the feared BCRA1 gene that Angelina Jolie carries is not the cause of this increase in cancer. Women with the BCRA1 gene do have an 80-87% higher risk of breast cancer, however, research shows that if a woman lives a healthy lifestyle that gene never gets “turned on” and is never expressed as cancer. Angelina did not make a “Brave Choice” when she had a double mastectomy, she made an “Uninformed Choice.” In 2009, scientists in Quebec, Canada, transformed our understanding of...

Our Genius Capacity

“Everyone is born a genius, but the process of living de-geniuses them.” -Richard Buckminster Fuller I recently received a newsletter from a friend of mine, Valerie Lipstein, about an ongoing study at Harvard University. The Zero Point study released some mind numbing statistics after ten years of study on the subject of genius. Valerie noted that genius is demonstrated by the quality of ideas and thinking, as well as how we arrive at and synthesize that information to make use of it.. Genius has the ability to change how the world views things. Society and the world can change when we change our point of view. Often the changes serve to provide us with greater standards of living. The conclusion of the Harvard researchers was that 99% of babies operate at a genius capacity during the first eighteen months of life. Age five, 22% of us operate at our genius capacity....
