Sunday Serena drove the five of us to the intentional community of Findhorn that was founded in the 60’s in a caravan park near the North Sea that was sandy and dry. It was actually an unintentional community founded by a family. The mother an intuitive who communicated with the intelligence of plants. They gave her instructions on how to make their garden thrive. The result was the barren sandy soil grew huge plants of all types. The garden became famous. As the reputation spread others arrived and a Park Ecovillage grew.
A Findhorn Foundation was founded that embraced metaphysical principles and transformative experiences to rediscover inner spiritual wisdom. It exists as a community today that recognizes and attempts to personify the sacred principles of nature and life that promotes sustainable ecological conservation. It is a community of a meditation center, homes, artist shops, an amazing metaphysical and grocery store, and a restaurant. There is a waiting list to buy homes there and a spot only opens when someone chooses to sell their home and move on. People have previously waited for years to buy in.
We walked through the village, ate in the restaurant and shopped in the store. The restaurant food was great, and cost less than today’s restaurants. The store had the most extensive selection of fresh and packaged organic and high-quality foods I have seen anywhere. All in all, Findhorn is a worthwhile experience.
Monday, I drove Charles and Sheila into the larger town of Elgin, six miles down the road from Lossiemouth. We walked through the town, did some shopping and stopped to chat with quite a few people Charle’s knows. The two pictures below are at the entrance to the main street in the old town.
We went into a Metaphysical shop called the Enchanted Highlands. Of course, Charles knows the owners. The main reason Charles took us there is because he talked them into carrying our books.
You can see us posing with our books (which actually sell now and then). The mother of the young lady who owns the store, Laura, is seen posing with us in the third picture.
Both nights we dined with our hosts, food they prepared, and both nights the food was fantastic. Sunday we even drank single malt whiskey. Sadly, all good things come to an end in order to make room for more good things. Tomorrow morning, we drive back to Edinburgh where we will spend the night before journeying on to Lille, France. More on that to come.

Hi Pat,
What a wonderful experience. I had a friend in Montana in the 80’s ( Kalanit Barson)she lived at Findhorn for many years. Occasionally I would enjoy a stay in her MT mountain home. During the visits I helped her in the garden. She taught me a plant watering technique I still utilize. She was a very spiritual, uplifting person who happily shared all she learned there. Thank you also for sharing your experiences.
Another friend (passed a couple years ago) had traveled the world , her most favorite place was Scotland. It looks and sounds delightful and beautiful.
Best regards, to Serena,Charles,River, family. And happy, safe, travels to you and Sheila.
Hi Hope, do you know Murphy Marlene Sullivan? She also responded about Findhorn. She spent 2 weeks three years ago. She spent a week with the gardeners and a week with the meditation group. She raves about it, and she is also an excellent gardener. Something to what they came up with. So, thanks for the response. It was lovely to spend 4 days with Charles serena and River, and Scotland is beautiful, especially since we have been here 9 days without rain and with temps that are amazing the citizens. I guess this something not seen for many years, maybe even decades. Best to both of you.
We were so happy to have Pat & Shelia, join us for few days, it warmed our hearts to see them. We hope their journey through France is fun.
you guys made our trip so memorable, love hugs and kisses.
How lovely! I went to Findhorn for two weeks! I worked in their incredible garden for one week and then played the “Game of Transformation” for the second week! So glad you had the opportunity to experience Findhorn, and lovely Charles and Serena!!!
Being around them made our trip so special and Scotland is unbelievably beautiful; especially when they are in the middle? end? unknown period of exceptional weather that is much warmer and totally dry. We have seen no rain, but oh how green it is. I can see how your Findhorn experience was so special. It is a magnificent unpretentious place. Thanks for inputting.
I’ve always been interested in Findhorn! I’ll talk to Murphy!!
Have fun in France…I love it there.
Hey my little Francophile! We finally got to Lille France, beautiful friendly city. It has been way too many difficulties, but they always come together, just not a envisioned and sometimes a bit more expensive.
