The Land of the Midnite Sun – Not Quite

July 18, 2025 By Dr. Pat Dougherty 2 Comments

Out for a stroll along the beach, the soft light entices me to take a few photos.

Photos are taken at about 11pm. Sunset in about 15 minutes, then sunrise at 3:50am. Darkness is another topic. I have gotten up between 1 and 2 and, to me, it just doesn’t look too dark.

Temperature at 11pm is the same as it was at 11am. Humidity at 11pm makes it feel much colder than at 11am. I think temperature variation at this time of year varies less than 10 degrees in a day.

Iceland is interesting from several perspectives and I think it would take quite a bit of time to wrap my head around it accurately
