Every once in a while, I come across something so astonishing I have to chronicle it ASAP.

Paul Day is a British born sculptor. He became captivated by and moved to the Burgundy area of France in his early 20’s and is currently 56 years old. His main works are in bronze, resin or terracotta. He has employed bas relief and trompe-l’oeil techniques that bring human figures to life in the middle of urban settings. They play with light, scale, lines and perspective to create unique works that can crush or enlarge the characters in scenes.
His sculptures can be monumental in size and are found in public spaces around Europe. We found him in Beaune’s relatively small Museum of fine arts. This is supposedly the first contemporary art show the museum has hosted. I urge you to explore Mr. Day further if the photos so inspire, because photography is likely incapable of conveying the grand artistry of the man. Nevertheless, here are the photos in this totally unplanned blog post, which will not be today’s only post.
It may be important to realize that although the photos may appear to be photography, they are actually 3-D sculptures of astonishing depth.

OH MY!!! The man is genius.
Awesome sculptures, the guy is a gifted artist, I will see if any of his works are in Scotland
