Today is a short one. I caught an early taxi today to have an MRI of the right knee at 8a.m. Yesterday I saw my doctor. He wrote a script for the MRI. I was out of there at slightly past 9 am. Beautiful clean office with ultra modern equipment. Paid cash, $225. I might save a little bit having it done in the U.S. with my insurance, BUT, the aggravation of getting something like this done in the U.S. is absurd.
Additionally, I can call my doctor here any time and he will see me within 36 hours. Answers the phone himself with one word, Bueno. Means good. Now I have to get the MRI read and decide what to do about a knee that has bothered me, out of the blue, for 6 months with varying degrees of pain and discomfort. Luckily it hasn’t much bothered my walking since we have been in Mexico. Not so lucky when I am trying to sleep. Whether I need surgery, or not, will be the determining factor in how we plan the next phase of our trip.
The major point here is that health care in Mexico is so much easier than at home, so much cheaper, office and hospital spaces so much more friendly and comfortable that I have to call into question what are our politicians doing? Simply put, I think Trump policies are hurting too many innocent and poor people. BUT, As much of a loony as RFK can be, I hope he is able to accomplish his avowed goals to rip asunder the pharmaceutical and insurance industries in order to bring our health services up to par with our “poor third world” neighbor to the south.
I walked about 2 miles to home after my early morning appointment. On the way, I stopped for a papaya pineapple juice at a tiny hole in the wall business. She had the poster at the top of this post on her wall, along with many other interesting items. Visualize it, Feel it, Manifest it and it will be yours. Great start to the day. Across the street from the juice shop was the wall of another small business. I am sorry it was obscured by two cars and bright sun, but I think you should see it anyway.

Dr. Pat – Wishing you a speedy recovery. I know what it is to be in pain during retirement. I love reading about your adventures.
Thanks Larry, I believe my pain is nothing like yours. Mine is mostly an annoyance as I get to do just about anything I want.
Pat, praying your knee is healing and that you get the answers you need to move forward on your journey. Yes I too hope RFK, can fix the healthcare system, as it is a mess, and only serves the drug company or big business.
Sending prayers of healing your way. Take care my friend
