The journey down the birth canal is at times a difficult one. As a result traumatic birth syndrome has become more common. Traumatic birth syndrome describes the presence of trauma-induced skull and spinal damage, and spinal misalignment as the result of the birth process. Delivery can be more difficult because it is usually performed without the aid of gravity, and often with medications that numb the delivery muscles. It should be no surprise that infants often emerge into this world in a subluxated state.
Often the spine of the infant is compressed as it is pushed down the birth canal. Frequently, twisting and pulling during birth cause subluxation in infants.
